Bringing the Net Zero mission to life
—
one touch at a time

The brief.
BP wanted to make its net zero goals tangible and personal for every employee worldwide. Not as a PDF buried in an inbox, but as something you could walk up to, touch, explore, and be inspired by — whether you were in the London HQ, an offshore rig, or a refinery in Texas.

The challenge.
Sustainability updates were often static, heavy on data, and disconnected from the day-to-day. The mission:
Turn complex climate data into clear, visual stories.
Make it engaging for everyone — from engineers in PPE to office staff in meeting rooms.
Ensure full accessibility for all abilities and working environments.
The Idea.
An interactive, BP-branded kiosk and mobile app that sync in real time — showing each site’s local sustainability progress, projects, and impact.
A place where people could:
Explore live carbon data and renewable energy use.
Learn through 3D models, maps, and short videos.
Discover local projects — and see how they fit into BP’s global mission.
The App.
TOTAL BRAND
EXPERIENCE
My role.
I led the UX/UI design, drove the brand application, and collaborated closely with engineers and suppliers to ensure the right hardware, software, and accessibility standards were in place. From sketching the first flows to seeing the kiosks switched on in BP offices, this was end-to-end design thinking and doing
The touch screens.
HIGHLY
ACCESSIBLE.
The Design.
Clean, clear, and on-brand — BP colours, typography, and iconography, optimised for readability.
Touch & gesture control — designed for one-hand use, wheelchairs, and hands-free interaction when needed.
Accessible to all — correct height, large touch targets, colour contrast, no flashing visuals.
Modular content — real-time data feeds, localised stories, 3D models, and “carbon games” to make learning fun.
Seamless sync — kiosks and mobile app pulled from the same live datasets.
The details.
THE CRAFTS
The tech.
Industrial-grade touch displays built for constant use.
Gesture control and eye-tracking for touchless interaction.
Real-time carbon and renewable energy data integration.
Mobile app companion for deeper dives and sharing stories.
The outcome.
The kiosks became conversation starters in canteens, receptions, and break areas — places where people would gather, explore, and even challenge each other in the carbon games. I wanted to put some Roni Size (Brown paper bag) as the background tune, but he wouldn’t allow it, would he?
The results.
Global rollout across BP offices and plants.
Thousands of employee interactions weekly.
Measurable increase in sustainability engagement scores.
Staff could see their site’s role in the global net zero journey — and that made the mission real.
